a batik scarf for a thought

Beautiful, don't you think?
That's inaku Batik scarf she's wearing :)
Now I want to tell you a story behind it.. once upon a time, not so long ago, I came across her fashion blog and found it interesting like I did with many other fashion blogs especially the ones which cater for Muslimah.
But one post made me think this girl is more than meets the eye. In that note to self she brought up the topic that many of Muslimah fashion blogs always state the high-end brands of the items they wear/ carry. Most probably it's to help the readers to easily find it in stores, but it can be considered as showing off (riya) if it's not done with proper intention (niyyah).
Nevertheless, she also stated that she'll still help and publish the small brands that asked her to wear their brands. So I did :) Thank you again Puthe.
Moral of the story, always begin all your activities with a good intention. As easy as it may seem, we tend to forget that in this busy world.
Happy Ramadhan everyone.. Alhamdulillah it's Friday ^_^

inaku - Sarimbit

Sarimbit as a word itself means together or family. As a type of clothing, Sarimbit consist of clothing for husband and wife (and their children) in similar fabric.
Yet inaku-sarimbit is not merely clothes made from the exact same fabric. You'll find various motives and colors in each set, giving a unique individual look for each clothing while still in harmony as a whole.
These are some of my previous designs, each made-to-order and one of a kind.

Happy Teacher's Day!

Teacher's Day in Spore is on September 1, where it's school holiday and the celebrations usually conducted the day before, which means tomorrow and I still haven't made any appreciation gift for my kids' teachers.

I did made some Teacher's Day reversible bags and pouches, but those are customized orders. I even forgot to take a picture of the pouches before I sent them to their owners.

For the bags I used mostly colorful Batik and Tenun Troso (handwoven fabric).

Now if could just whip up a simple yet pretty gift for my kids' teachers to be given tomorrow..

more dress refashion

Before my new muse came, I had done another refashion. This time I made a maxi dress from a cotton batik fabric and an old cotton jersey turtle neck shirt. The batik was a birthday present from a dear friend a couple of years ago. Yup, my fabric stash goes all the way back..

I just sewed the batik into tube shape and attached it to the bodice part of the shirt. That's it. No rocket science involved, apparently. It's so comfy and if I want it to be more shapely I could always cinch a belt.

Actually I'm thinking of adding a batik rosette, just hope I'm in the mood to make it soon :D

a bag refashion

My mother got this from my sister (which she got from her office), a neon yellow tote bag with a product logo on it.

Well, you could understand why my mother hasn't use the bag inspite of it being a gift from her daughter.

I told my mother that I'll make over the bag which she happily agree and she requested it to be in neutral shade of brown color.

Then I found this batik among my fabric stash and made some kind of sleeve to cover the outer part of the bag. I'm quite satisfied with the result, since it's a simple refashion yet gives a significant difference.

Just hope my mother likes her 'new' bag :)

First Refashion!

I've been wanting to do some refashion on my clothes for quite some time now, but things always got in the way (most of the times it's just lazy me :P).

Today I finally did it! My first clothes refashion!
Two batik tunics that were way too big for me have been transformed into two batik dresses :)
