Bags Request

My friend asked me to make a reversible shopping bag for her. She saw my charlie bag in red vynil and fell for it, unfortunately it's already taken. That's the story behind the similar fabric option.

The shape and details are different though, as you can see. Because my friend is an avid cook with her specialty in snacks, I put some embroidery embellishments in shapes of a cake slice and a mug of hot coco. I also put some fabric covered buttons (I used batik garutan in light blue and hot pink color) for her newfound liking for sewing.

Not only for herself, she also asked me to make a bag for her sister. I used the charlie bag pattern but altered the handle strap, made it longer as per my customer's request. And ofcourse, it's reversible so it's like having 2 bags in 1 ;)

Swappin' Charlie

Here's another swap I've made with a fellow crafter.

This time with Pimpi from Sawo Kecik, a talented crafter and apparently zakka enthusiast :)

Since we're both big fans of the Charlie Bag, we decided to make our own version of the bag.

Mine, as usual is a reversible bag. I use a colourful fabric with measuring tape motives on one side, and a black/white/grey IKEA cotton fabric on the other.

To spice things up I added fun details with sheer green fabric which I made into some ruffles and stuff. The end result is.. errr, a little bit over the top, I admit. Or should I say I was highly inspired by Alice In Wonderland :D

I hope she likes the bag because I made it with her warm personality and cute craft work in mind :)

Rustic Clutch for a Swap

Some time ago I and Irene from Miu Craft agreed to do a craft swap.
I've sent this Multipurpose Rustic Clutch for her. I named it Rustic after the brown colors dominate the fabric (it's IKEA fabric, by the way) and the simple and rustic finishings such as the zigzag stitch at the side and the hand embroidery I made.

The inside is lined with same fabric as the outside yet in opposite colors. Also comes with button closure to secure all the items stored inside.

I'm still waiting for Irene's craft, I'm sure it'll be so cute ^^

Handmade Tote in Minutes!

I came across this tutorial in Purl Bee some time ago and thought it's the perfect sewing project both for beginner and expert. It's so simple with clear instruction yet you could get endless result posibilities according to the fabric motives and materials you used.

I made mine just now, on my lazy Sunday. In pink!

Another Charlie in Vinyl

A few weeks ago I found another vynil sheet in bright color with cute motives, and it's on sale!

So here what I came up with, a Charlie reversible bag with vinyl on one side and Tenun Troso (handwoven fabric) on the other side.

If you look closely you can see some leaf shapes reverse appliques on the bag with a hand embroidery around each leaf, giving the bag a subtle accent.

And my favourite part would be the orange flower which I made from batik fabric. I like how its bright color compliment the whole look of the bag.

This durable and versatile pretty bag is for sale, ofcourse :)

Only Happy When It Rains

Normally I dread when it rains and I happen have to go out. The idea of getting wet and bringing an unflattering big umbrella is not exactly what I have in mind. Ofcourse there's always a smaller and compact umbrella to opt for, but it wont help much in a heavy rain.

But now I actually looking forward to go out in the rain! So I could try this new umbrella of mine :D

It's huge, yet looking so pretty with all the ruffles, don't you think?

And the handle is oh so yummy, very much like a candy cane.. sweet!
