My Normal Room on Apartment Therapy!!

Remember my post about instant bedroom makeover here last year?
Well, I also posted the bedroom picture in Normal Room.

Anyway, yesterday when I was doing my daily read on Apartment Therapy, guess what I found!

THIS !

An article about bedrooms from around the world taken from Normal Room, and mine's (lucky number 13) in the 15 bedrooms featured!

Though not getting rave reviews (doh! should've put much better pic) but hey, it's Apartment Therapy!!

Thanks AT :)

for the kids

My twin sons have their own color preference. One likes red, and the other one likes blue.

The same goes for their favourite cartoon characters. One likes Thomas train, the other likes Ben 10.

So I made these for them..

Ikat Troso

I realized that ikat motif is very ethnic and traditional. Yet who would've thought that it would go seamlessly with contemporary design? Like above picture from West Elm shows us.

You can also create your very own fusion of ethnic and other style. Simply choose a versatile decoration item like the Ikat Troso Runner in Feathers For Nest, and use it as accent in your home decor. For a brief intro about Troso please click here.

It fits perfectly as a dining table runner (great on coffee table too), or get creative and use it as a floor runner, or even display it on the wall using the beautifully crafted hanger like this one below (which ofcourse also available in Feathers For Nest).

Tenun Troso

Tenun Troso is a traditional handwoven fabric originated from Troso, Jepara, Central Java, Indonesia. Available in various motives (rainbow (as in above picture), ikat, plain, batik) and materials (cotton, viscose, natural fibers).

I'm lucky to get a handful of these beautiful fabrics for my next projects :)

Black Beauties

Feathers For Nest introducing the Black Beauty Series, consist of small and tall vases also nest of tealight holders.

Elegantly finished in black, these decoration pieces are very suitable for small spaces. The muted black color complements the simple crafted teak wood, giving a subtle decorative without overcrowding the limited space. Black is also a neutral color ofcourse, which can fit in any room indoor or outdoor.

My favourite would be the nest of tealight holders - a set of 3 wooden tealight holders finished in black. With each piece fits perfectly with the other, creating many possibilities on how to display them together or to rearrange them over and over again in no time. Now how's that for a quick, easy and fun makeover..

...and the seed's growing

Remember these hand sewn pillow covers?

Well, on one quiet afternoon I decided to add something on it..
Here's the 'blank canvas' on my messy work desk.

Not in the mood to follow any pattern, I just started making it without knowing what it would be.. and on the way it just came to me.

...Tadaaaa! Need ironing first.
And it sits prettily on the couch..
..and on the rug as well.
Yeah I know it's nothing much, but hey, it's my first freehand embroidery ever! I think I'm going to try this again some other time, a real stress reliever :)

Bowl-ing

Have I told you that I've soft spot for accessories which are functional as well?

Like this pretty bowl, shown here as a fruit bowl, yet I'm sure we can find many use for this versatile piece. Even empty and standing alone, it would look dashing as a table centrepiece or as an unique accent on your console table.

And ofcourse it's availabe in our home and decor online store - Feathers For Nest :)

heirloom..

Look what I've got from my mother!

It's her collection of embroidery tools, or some of them, to be exact.

Now, if I could just find time (read: not too lazy) to start making some nice embroidery here and there..
